Description
If you love the growl and snap of a J-Bass but you’re tired of fighting hum every time you stand near a dimmer switch or a bad stage ground, the JB4 set is built to solve that without sanitizing your tone. JBE Pickups took the double-blade design Joe Barden made famous on six-string guitars and reworked it for four-string duty, so you get that familiar J-Bass character — the growl in the bridge, the woody thump in the neck — but with more low-end detail and top-end articulation than a typical stock single coil can pull off.
Because the coils are humbucking by design, you can run neck alone, bridge alone, or blend both without any of the classic single-coil noise floor creeping into your signal. That matters on stage under LED lighting rigs and in the studio where a quiet track means fewer takes and less noise-gating in the mix.
The neck and bridge pickups are sized to match the routed cavities of a standard J-Bass, so there’s no routing, filing, or instrument modification required — they’re meant to be a straight swap. This particular set is for 4-string J-Bass and J-style basses (a 5-string version is also made by JBE for players on the wider format).
- Double-blade, hum-cancelling design for silent single-coil-style tone
- Neck and bridge pickups sized for direct fit into standard J-Bass routing
- Extended frequency response and articulation vs. stock J pickups
- Wiring diagram and mounting hardware included for installation
- Built for 4-string J-Bass and similarly styled basses
For bassists who want to shape their tone more deliberately — solo the bridge for cut, blend for that classic scoop, all without noise getting in the way.
