Description
Since ’76, the StingRay has been the bass every player checks against — that humbucker growl, the oval pickguard silhouette, and a punch that cuts through any mix without fighting for it. It was the first four-string to put active EQ in a production bass, and that DNA still runs through every StingRay Special that leaves the factory.
- Lighter, more balanced build: Select hardwoods and reengineered lightweight tuning machines cut the weight without touching that iconic low-end character — your shoulder will thank you by set three.
- Roasted maple neck, 5-bolt sculpted joint: Full access to all 22 stainless steel frets, with a neck that’s stable and fast under the hand.
- Neodymium-loaded humbucker: More output and a wider tonal window than the vintage magnet, from thumping fingerstyle to aggressive slap.
- New 18-volt 3-band active preamp: Extra clean headroom for dialing in anything from vintage warmth to modern punch, with independent bass, mid, and treble control.
- Refined body contours: Rounded edges that sit comfortably whether you’re seated in the studio or slung low on stage.
Black finish, high-gloss polyester body, 34″ scale, 11″ fingerboard radius, vintage Music Man top-loaded chrome bridge, and an adjustable truss rod that never asks you to pull strings to tweak it. This is the StingRay reworked for the player who lives on the road but never wants to give up that unmistakable sound.
