The Diamond-J Plus takes the familiar J-bass silhouette and rebuilds it from the bottom up—vintage vibe on the outside, serious electronics underneath. Schecter loaded this one with a matched pair of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound J ‘SJB-3’ pickups in the bridge and neck, giving you that fat, aggressive output with a sharper attack than a standard Hot J set. The quarter-inch pole pieces and dense windings translate directly into a full-bodied response with sustain that hangs on.
What really sets this bass apart is the control layout. The Master Volume knob doubles as a phase switch via a push-pull pot: down for normal in-phase tone, up to flip the bridge pickup out-of-phase for that honky, midrange-forward growl that used to sacrifice low end—until the onboard Seymour Duncan 2-Band Active EQ (18v) stepped in to let you dial the bass back in and truly shape that unusual voice. A 4-way rotary selector adds even more flexibility, letting you run the pickups solo, in parallel for classic side-by-side clarity, or in series for a 30% output bump and a thicker, more powerful sound.
Underneath the electronics, the construction is just as deliberate. The neck joint is contoured for easier upper-fret access and bolted with six screws for a tighter body connection. Carbon fiber reinforcement rods keep the neck stable, while the 12″ fretboard radius gives it a modern, rounded feel under the hand. The Wilkinson WBBC bridge gets a custom string-thru-body treatment for extra resonance and sustain, and Grover 142 Vintage tuners bring smooth, precise tuning with old-school styling.
