Description
If your 5-string J bass needs more weight down low without turning to mud, the Bartolini 59CBJD-L1 is the bridge pickup to reach for. Part of Bartolini’s Classic Bass series, it’s a passive design with a dual in-line, hum-cancelling coil layout that keeps things silent on stage while delivering a tone rooted in strong lows and low mids — exactly what a bass rig needs to anchor a band.
What sets the Classic Bass series apart from vintage-style J pickups is the extended frequency response. Rather than just piling on bottom end, these are cast in epoxy to kill microphonics and feedback, and voiced to keep top-end air and note definition intact even as the low end pushes forward. That means your B string stays tight and articulate instead of turning into a low rumble.
This is the ‘long’ bridge-position pickup, sized specifically for standard J bass routing. Fender’s original Jazz Bass design uses two different pickup lengths — a shorter 3-5/8″ pickup in the neck slot and a longer 3-3/4″ pickup in the bridge slot. This 59CBJD-L1 matches that longer bridge dimension. If your bass runs two long-format pickups instead of the traditional short/long pairing, you’ll want the neck-specific ‘LN’ version for that position — don’t swap a bridge pickup into the neck slot. Always measure your existing pickups before ordering to confirm fit.
