Description
Adding a fifth string doesn’t mean giving up the feel bassists love about a J-Bass, and this Deluxe Active model proves it. The Surf Pearl finish over an alder body looks sharp under stage lights, while the slim “C”-shaped maple neck with a Pau Ferro board keeps your hand moving fast across all 20 medium jumbo frets. The 12″ fingerboard radius makes chords and fast lines feel natural, and pearloid dot inlays give you a clean reference point in low light.
Tone-wise, this bass covers a lot of ground. Two Vintage Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups in the middle and bridge positions give you that snarly, vocal J-Bass midrange minus the 60-cycle hum that plagues traditional single-coils. Flip the active/passive switch and you go from vintage-voiced simplicity to a full three-band active EQ setup, letting you dial in treble sparkle, punchy mids, or deep low-end boost depending on the room and the mix.
The HiMass five-saddle bridge adds real weight to the equation – literally – locking in sustain, tuning stability, and solid intonation even when you’re digging in hard on stage. A four-bolt asymmetrical neck plate rounds out the build for a comfortable, secure neck joint.
