Some Jazz Basses are built to sit pretty. This one’s built to work. The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is Fender’s spec-for-spec take on the actual instrument Rush’s bassist has leaned on through decades of touring and recording – and it shows in how it plays and cuts through a mix.
The alder body pairs with a one-piece maple neck in a thin C shape, so your fretting hand moves fast without fighting the profile. Black binding runs along the maple board with black rectangular markers, giving it a look that’s understated next to the gloss black polyurethane finish rather than flashy. Twenty medium jumbo frets and a 9.5″ radius keep the fingerboard comfortable whether you’re walking lines or digging into a fill.
Tone comes from two vintage-style Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, wired the classic way – dual volumes plus a master tone, no switching to fuss with mid-song. That’s the setup Geddy’s used to get his percussive, cutting low end, and it’s here in full. A Leo Quan Badass II bridge adds sustain and low-end punch, backed by chrome hardware and vintage-style tuners for that broken-in feel.
