Description
Tony Franklin didn’t just play fretless bass, he defined how it should feel under your fingers, and this signature Precision Bass is built to chase that same vocal, sliding tone. The unlined ebony board lets your ears and fingers do the work, with side dots placed right at the fretting points so you’re never lost, even in the dark on a gig. An alder body and modern C-shaped maple neck keep things familiar and stable, while a 9.5″ radius board and 1.625″ nut width give you that comfortable, fast-playing feel across the 34″ scale.
The pickup pairing is where this bass really earns its stripes: a Tony Franklin signature single-coil Jazz Bass pickup with hex-screw poles and ceramic bar magnets sits at the bridge, joined by an American Series-style split single-coil Precision pickup up front. A 3-way blade switch lets you flip between growling P-tone, singing J-tone, or blend both for a fuller voice — dialed in with simple master volume and tone controls.
Vintage-style touches carry the character through: ’70s-stamped open-gear tuners, a Hipshot Bass X-Tender for quick drop-D moves, an American Vintage ’70s-style bridge with single-groove saddles, and a 4-bolt neck plate engraved with Tony’s signature. It even ships strung with his signature NPS strings (.045-.105) for the tone he intended from day one.
