Every low end you’ve ever loved owes something to this instrument. The Precision Bass gave bassists a fretted, in-tune voice that could finally cut through a mix, and this American Professional version takes that 1951 breakthrough and tightens every bolt for modern gigging.
At the heart of the tone is a single V-Mod split-coil pickup, designed by pickup veteran Michael Bump using a blend of alnico magnet types. It’s built to deliver that thick, punchy P-Bass thump with vintage warmth on the bottom and clarity on top – the sound that’s anchored funk, rock, reggae, and everything in between.
The neck wears the beloved ’63 P Bass profile in maple, a shape bass players have chased for decades for how naturally it sits in the hand. Twenty narrow-tall frets make bending and fretting up the neck feel precise, and a bone nut adds sustain and tuning clarity right at the headstock. Inside the neck, Posiflex graphite rods guard against warping when you’re bouncing between a sweaty club and an air-conditioned green room.
Tuning stays locked thanks to fluted-shaft tuning machines that keep string windings tight and the break angle over the nut consistent. Down at the bridge, the HiMass Vintage design with single-groove saddles gives you old-school looks with real mass behind your sustain.
