Description
There’s a reason fretless basses get their own cult following, and this American Professional Jazz Bass earns its place in it. No frets means no barriers between your fingers and the note — just you, the rosewood board, and every ounce of vibrato, growl, and glide you can coax out of it. Loaded with Fender USA flatwound strings, it’s dialed in for that upright-adjacent mwah rather than fighting you toward a fretted twang.
The alder body and slim “Modern C” maple neck keep things light and fast under the hand, while Posiflex graphite rods embedded beneath the fingerboard keep the neck honest through temperature swings, van rides, and long tours — no random relief changes right before a show. The 9.5″ radius and narrow-tall fret lines (yes, they’re markers here, not playable frets) make intonation-by-ear feel natural instead of intimidating.
Michael Bump’s V-Mod single-coil Jazz pickups bring that classic alnico-driven Fender voice — warm, punchy, and articulate enough to cut through a mix without needing to dime the tone knob. A HiMass vintage bridge with single-groove saddles adds sustain and old-school stability, fluted-shaft tuners keep string windings tight for tuning that holds, and a bone nut rounds out the vintage-correct hardware package.
