Description
Some onboard preamps feel like an afterthought bolted into a control cavity. The Tone Capsule isn’t one of them. Darkglass shrunk a genuinely useful three-band EQ into a footprint of just 30x30x20mm (1.18×1.18×0.4 in), so it slots into basses where space is tight without forcing you to sacrifice tone-shaping power.
- Bass: ±12dB at 70Hz for controlling how much low-end weight you’re pushing into the amp — tighten it up for slap-heavy lines or open it wide for a chest-thumping foundation.
- Mids: ±12dB at 500Hz to dial in the honk and presence that cuts through a dense mix.
- Hi Mids: ±12dB at 2.8kHz for adding bite and articulation, or backing it off for a rounder, warmer voice.
Each band comes with its own potentiometer included, so wiring in tone control is straightforward rather than a scavenger hunt for parts.
Power flexibility is built in too: run it on 9V with a single battery, or wire two in series for 18V operation if you want more headroom before clipping (battery clips not included, so plan your wiring accordingly).
For players who want active-preamp shaping in a passive-sized footprint — whether you’re building, modding, or just tired of a preamp eating half your control cavity — the Tone Capsule delivers real tonal range without the bulk.
