Description
If your Jazz Bass has always sounded a little too well-behaved, the SJB-3s Quarter Pound set is the fix. Built around oversized alnico 5 rod magnets and a heavy coil wind, these pickups push output well past vintage territory and put real weight behind every note. Think growl, punch, and a low end that shoves back rather than just fills space — great for players who dig in hard or need to cut through a dense mix without reaching for a compressor.
The neck pickup is wound RWRP (reverse wind, reverse polarity), so running both pickups together cancels hum instead of adding to it — a real-world gigging perk, not just a spec sheet checkbox. Tonally, the set stays even and full across the strings, with sustain that holds up whether you’re slapping, fingerstyle plucking, or laying into a pick.
Fit-wise, this is a straightforward drop-in for any American Standard Jazz Bass, so there’s no routing or modification drama — pull the stock pickups, wire these in, done.
Each pickup is hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA using forbon flatwork and is wax potted to keep things quiet at stage volume — no microphonic squeal creeping into your signal when you crank the gain. Pickups arrive with a black cover.
