Description
If you love the classic Jazz Bass growl but wish it hit a little harder, this is the set to reach for on a 5-string. Seymour Duncan built the Quarter Pound around fat, quarter-inch alnico 5 rod magnets and a custom over-wound coil, so you get the punch and headroom of a hot pickup without losing the articulate top end that makes a Jazz Bass feel like a Jazz Bass. Dig in and the attack stays authoritative; back off and you still get that sweetened, vintage character bassists chase.
The extra output makes this set especially handy for 5-string players who need to keep the low B tight and defined next to the higher strings — nothing gets lost or muddy in the mix. The neck pickup is wound reverse-wound/reverse-polarity, so running both pickups together gives you hum-canceling operation on stage, which matters when you’re standing near bright lights or noisy pedalboards.
These are hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA, using Forbon flatwork and vacuum wax potting to keep things quiet and squeal-free even when you’re pushing a hot amp. Comes with black covers.
