Every bassist knows the dread of showing up to a gig only to find the backline amp is garbage, the DI is fried, or your usual rig just isn’t available. The Fly Rig 5 exists so that never derails your set. At 18 oz and under a foot long, it slides right into your gig bag pocket and gives you a full pedalboard’s worth of tone without the crates, cables, or wall of gear.
Anchoring the unit is Tech 21’s all-analog SansAmp circuit, pre-voiced here for clean, chiming tones with a 3-band active EQ and a Drive control that pushes from mild warmth into a snarling grind. Sharing that section is a spring-style reverb, tuned to add ambience without turning muddy or artificial – useful for filling out low end in a live mix without washing out your note definition.
Need dirt? The Plexi section delivers that classic ’68 amp-style crunch with its own Level, Tone, and Drive controls, and a Hot footswitch that stacks up to 21dB of extra pre-amp gain onto any section – or your amp – whenever you need to cut through a dense mix.
Rounding things out is the DLA delay, voiced for vintage tape-echo character with Level, Time, Repeats, and a Drift control for subtle pitch modulation. A dedicated tap-tempo footswitch means you can dial in the right timing on the fly between songs, no menu diving required.
Everything runs through metal footswitches and jacks in a tough gunmetal housing, with an auto-switching 12V power supply included so it works anywhere in the world. Illuminated mini-controls keep you oriented on a dark stage, and silent footswitch actuators mean no thumps in your signal.
