Description
The StingRay tone is practically the sound of modern bass — but the RAY34HH twists the formula with two Sterling by Music Man designed alnico humbuckers instead of the usual single pickup. Run them together for that fat, aggressive StingRay push, or flip the 5-way toggle to split and blend them for tones that range from punchy and midrangey to glassy and articulate. The 3-band active preamp gives you real control over lows, mids, and highs, so whether you’re locking in with a kick drum on a rock gig or cutting through a dense mix, you’ve got the EQ headroom to get there.
Under the hood, the roasted hard maple neck brings extra stiffness and resistance to humidity swings — a real plus for players who load in and out of different rooms and climates all week. The 9.5″ radius fingerboard and medium frets make fast lines and aggressive slap technique feel natural, while the mahogany body adds warmth and weight to balance the bite of the humbuckers. A 6-bolt neck joint keeps the neck-to-body connection tight and stable under heavy playing.
