Description
The Delano Sonar preamp line was built around a simple idea: your pickups already sound good, so give them a preamp that lets them sound better without getting in the way. The DEG 03 MS/E carries that philosophy into a compact 3-band circuit, but it adds something most onboard preamps don’t offer — real control over where your midrange actually sits.
MS stands for Mid Selection, and this is one of the first genuinely compact preamp designs to build that flexibility right in. Instead of a single fixed mid frequency baked into the circuit, you get a three-position toggle switch mounted externally on your bass’s control panel. That means you can move between different center frequencies on the fly, right from the front of the instrument — no popping the control cavity, no soldering, no compromise between a punchy low-mid growl and a vocal upper-mid bark.
For working bassists, that kind of access matters. A room that swallows low mids one night might demand a scooped, aggressive mid voice the next. Being able to shift the mid center frequency mid-set, mid-soundcheck, or even mid-song gives you a tonal range that a standard fixed-mid 3-band EQ simply can’t match.
- 3-band active preamp with selectable mid frequencies
- External (E) switching via three-position toggle on the control panel
- Compact design suited for tight control cavities
- Delivers refined, musical shaping without dulling pickup character
If you’ve been chasing one more degree of tonal control from your bass, this is where the Sonar 3MS/E earns its keep.
