Description
There’s a reason hollow body basses have a cult following among players chasing something beyond the standard slab tone — and the G5440LS Electromatic taps right into that. Gretsch built this 34″ long-scale bass around a 5-ply maple, single-cutaway hollow body with internal sound-post bracing, so it moves air and breathes without folding into feedback at gig volume. The bound top, back, f-holes, and fingerboard give it that classic Gretsch look while keeping construction solid enough for real stage work.
Under the hood sit two Black Top Filter’Tron pickups, wired to a 3-position toggle so you can dial in bridge, neck, or both together. These aren’t your average hollow body pickups — they’re voiced for the low end, giving you a deep, electrifying character that’s punchy on top and thick underneath, whether you’re rolling into a walking line or digging in for something heavier.
The maple neck carries a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays, all bound for extra polish. A 1.6875″ nut width keeps things comfortable for players coming from either side of the P-bass/hollow body divide. Hardware includes a rosewood-based four-saddle Adjusto-Matic bridge, the signature “G” cutout tailpiece, enclosed precision tuners, and classic “G” arrow control knobs — all finished in chrome.
