Five strings, 24 frets, and a body that finally respects how a bassist actually stands and plays for three hours straight — that’s the JS3V Spectra. Jackson reworked the offset shape with a bigger upper horn so the weight sits where it should, killing neck dive without you having to think about it.
The bolt-on maple neck uses a scarf joint and graphite reinforcement, which means the low B stays tight and the sustain doesn’t fall apart on you. Combine that with a 12″-16″ compound radius laurel board and a speed neck carve, and runs up near the 24th fret feel like they belong there — no fighting the instrument to get to the high stuff.
Tone-wise, this thing covers more ground than its price tag suggests. Dual passive Jackson medium-output humbuckers deliver a thick, growly low end whether you’re locked into a gospel pocket or riding on top of a hard rock mix. A coil-split toggle thins things out when you need more bite, and the active 3-band EQ lets you sculpt bass, mid, and treble independently. Best part: the volume knob has a push/pull that bypasses the active circuit entirely, so a dead battery mid-set doesn’t mean a dead bass — you just pull the knob and keep playing passive.
A HiMass bridge locks strings down for better sustain and punch, and everything’s finished in black nickel hardware with Jackson’s distinctive 3×2 headstock.
