Left-handed bassists don’t get spoiled for choice, and they definitely don’t get spoiled for choice on a proper 35″ scale 5-string. The Riot-5 Session LH fixes that. Schecter built this one with a swamp ash body under a flat top, paired to a bolt-on maple neck with a maple fretboard – a bright, articulate combo that lets the low B come through with definition instead of mud.
The extra half-inch of scale length (35″ vs the usual 34″) tightens up string tension across all five strings, which matters most on that low B – you get punch and pitch clarity instead of a floppy, undefined bottom end. A comfortable ‘C’-shaped neck profile and 12″ fretboard radius keep fast lines and chords under the hand, while 24 narrow X-Jumbo frets and ebony side block inlays give you full range with easy visual reference in low light on stage.
Electronics are handled by an EMG 40DC bridge pickup and EMG 40J neck pickup, run through a master volume/blend and 3-band active EQ – active EMGs mean a hot, quiet signal with real tonal shaping power, from scooped slap tones to a pushed, aggressive mid-forward growl. An 18-volt battery compartment with screw plate powers the active circuit.
