Description
The StingRay thump is one of the most recognizable low-end voices in music, and Sterling’s RAY34 puts that sound within reach without cutting corners on what actually matters. It’s built around the same formula that made the original a stage staple: a single Alnico humbucker driven by a 3-band active preamp, so you can dial in scooped funk, aggressive rock growl, or a fat round tone depending on where your gig lands.
The mahogany body wears a modern contour that sits comfortably against your body for long sets, and it’s finished in black with a matching black pickguard for a stealthy, no-nonsense look. Under your hand is a roasted hard maple neck with a 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard, 21 medium frets, and white dot markers – a fast, familiar feel with a 1.69″ nut width. The neck locks in via a 6-bolt attachment for solid sustain and stability, and open-gear tuners keep things in tune through the set.
Sterling’s own bridge design, modeled directly after the classic Music Man bridge, anchors the strings with the punch and sustain StingRay players expect. It ships strung with Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky strings, ready to plug in.
