Description
The StingRay tone has been the backbone of countless bass lines for decades, and the RAY35 brings that signature punch to a five-string built for players who need range without sacrificing attitude. Under the hood is a single Alnico humbucker paired with a 3-band active preamp, so you get everything from tight, aggressive slap to warm, rounded fingerstyle – all shaped right at your fingertips.
The roasted maple neck isn’t just for looks. It’s stiffer, more stable under different climates and stage temperatures, and it feels fast under the hand thanks to the 12″ radius rosewood fingerboard and medium frets. A 1.77″ nut width keeps five strings manageable without feeling like a plank, and the 34″ scale gives you the low B the tension it needs to stay tight and defined rather than floppy.
Mahogany body, contoured for hours-long gigs, wears the Black finish with a black pickguard for a stealthy, no-nonsense look. The bridge is Sterling’s own take on the classic Music Man design, mounted to a 6-bolt neck joint for solid transfer of energy from string to body. Open gear tuners keep tuning stable and easy to adjust on the fly, and a single-action truss rod means simple, predictable setups.
