Description
The XJ-1T isn’t trying to be a vintage reissue — it’s Xotic taking the Jazz Bass formula and rebuilding it with modern player demands in mind. Five strings, an alder body (ash on the Natural finish), and a 22-fret maple neck with an oil finish give you that familiar J-Bass feel in your hands, but everything under the hood is where this bass separates itself.
At the heart of it are Xotic’s own JB 5-string pickups paired with their acclaimed 18V 3-band preamp — the same electronics platform that’s earned Xotic a serious reputation among working bassists. You get a volume, balancer, tone, 3-band EQ, a mid/bright switch, and output gain control, so whether you’re dialing in a fat, rounded low end for R&B or carving out an aggressive slap tone for a fusion gig, this bass adapts without a pedal in sight.
Details matter here too: Hipshot UltraLight tuners keep the headstock balanced, a Pure Bone nut and Jescar frets support smooth, consistent playability, and a Type-A brass bridge adds sustain and low-end weight. Position markers are pearl on the Black and 3-Tone Sunburst finishes, while the Natural finish gets glow-in-the-dark Luminova markers — a nice touch for dim stages. A Gotoh strap button rounds out the hardware.
