Some bass heads chase versatility and lose the plot on tone. The SVT-4 PRO doesn’t. It’s built around the same tube-fueled attitude that made the SVT name a fixture on stages for decades, then packs it into a rackmount unit that actually makes sense for gigging musicians who don’t want to haul a fridge-sized head around.
The tone-shaping here goes deep. Beyond the standard 3-band EQ, you get a 9-band graphic EQ for surgical tweaks, plus a 5-position frequency selector for the midrange control – meaning you’re not stuck with one flavor of mid. Stack the graphic EQ on top of your main channel and set it up as a footswitchable boost for solos, and you’ve essentially got a second channel built in. Ultra low and ultra high switches let you push the extremes when a song calls for it.
Power-wise, this thing delivers 1200 watts at 4 ohms (split 2x600W), driven through 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes for that warm, saturated front end before it hits the solid-state power section. Tony Levin, Cliff Williams, and Rex Brown have all leaned on this head for a reason – it does the SVT thing without demanding a roadie.
This unit is open box/demo – gently used, fully functional, and priced to reflect it.
