Description
Duff McKagan didn’t need a fancy bass to anchor Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver — he needed one that could take a beating and still growl. This signature model brings back that exact weapon: an ’80s-style Jazz Bass Special build, meaning a Precision Bass body wearing a Jazz Bass neck, loaded with both P and J pickups for a tone that’s part thump, part snarl.
The Alder body keeps things resonant and punchy, while the black-painted maple neck (modern “C” profile) and rosewood board with 9.5″ radius make fast lines and heavy palm-muted riffs equally comfortable. Twenty medium jumbo frets give you plenty of real estate to roam the 34″ scale.
Where this bass gets clever is the electronics: the split single-coil Precision pickup in the middle position handles the low-mid muscle, and the single-coil Jazz pickup at the bridge adds bite and clarity. Blend them with the master TBX circuit — a treble/bass cut control that lets you dial from warm and rounded to sharp and aggressive without touching a pedal.
