Everyone who’s ever played a P Bass knows the feeling — that instant sense of home in your hands. Fender took that same DNA and stretched it across five strings, giving you the low B without diluting the growl that made the Precision Bass the backbone of basically every genre worth dancing to.
At the heart of it is Michael Bump’s V-Mod split-coil pickup, wound with a deliberate mix of alnico magnet types to keep the tone balanced string-to-string while staying true to that unmistakable Fender voice. The neck wears the ‘1963 C’ profile in maple with a satin back — the shape most bassists still measure everything else against — paired with narrow-tall frets that make bends and up-neck chord work feel effortless and stay in tune.
Under the hood you’ll find Posiflex graphite rods running the length of the neck to fight warping through humidity swings and hard touring, plus redesigned fluted-shaft tuners that keep string windings tight against the nut for better break angle, sustain, and tuning stability. The 5-string HiMass Vintage bridge (strings-through-body or topload) locks things down with vintage looks and modern reliability.
