Description
Five strings, zero compromises. The American Elite Jazz Bass V hands you the low B without sacrificing the snap and growl that made J-basses a studio staple, and it does it dead quiet thanks to the 4th-generation Noiseless pickups. These aren’t your typical hum-cancelling units that suck the vintage mojo out of your tone — they keep the classic Jazz Bass voice intact while killing the buzz that plagues single-coils on a loud stage.
Behind the pickups sits a beefed-up 18-volt active preamp with 3-band EQ, giving you real headroom to dig in hard without the signal falling apart. Flip the mini toggle to passive when you want that raw, unfiltered edge instead.
Neck feel matters just as much as tone, and Fender addressed it with a compound-profile neck — modern C-shape near the bone nut easing into a D-shape by the heel — paired with a 9.5″–14″ compound radius maple fingerboard. It’s built for fast runs and easy chord work up and down the 34″ scale, reinforced by graphite Posiflex rods to keep things stable through temperature swings and sweaty gigs. The truss rod wheel now lives at the heel end, so relief tweaks take seconds, not a full re-string.
The HiMass Vintage 5-saddle bridge (top-load or string-through) adds punch and sustain that carries a low B string with authority. Alder body construction, black chrome hardware, pearloid block inlays, and that deep Tobacco Sunburst finish round out the vintage-meets-modern look this series is known for.
