Ellefson didn’t just lend his name to this bass – he shaped it around how he actually plays. The alder Concert Bass body wears a gloss Quicksilver finish over a bolt-on quartersawn maple neck, oiled and bound in ivoroid for a neck that feels broken-in from day one. The compound-radius rosewood board (12″ to 16″) flattens out as you climb, so low-string riffing stays comfortable and lead lines up top don’t fight the fretting hand. 21 jumbo frets and pearloid shark fin inlays keep the 34″ scale playable clear to the top end.
Tone comes from a pair of EMG humbuckers – the HZ40N up front and HZ40B at the bridge – wired into an EMG BEQ3 active preamp. Five domed knobs (volume, three-band EQ, blend) give you real control over shaping that low end, from thick and rounded to aggressive midrange growl, without losing clarity in a dense mix. A high-mass 5-string bridge anchors the low B and keeps sustain tight, while black hardware and the ivoroid-bound headstock with ’90s Jackson branding give it that classic X Series look. Ellefson’s silver “Fallout” logo sits on the truss rod cover as a nod to his own rig.
