Every bass player who’s chased fuzz knows the struggle: most fuzz circuits were built with guitar in mind, and low notes either turn to mush or lose all their weight. The FFM6 is different. Dunlop’s engineers reverse-engineered the mysterious red Fuzz Face Jimi Hendrix used at Woodstock, Berkeley, and the Fillmore East — a pedal lost to history but immortalized on tape by its uniquely aggressive, biting growl. Turns out it was a variant of the Octavio circuit with the octave-up voice removed, and that’s exactly what’s packed into this Mini.
On bass, that circuit behaves differently than a standard Fuzz Face. You get a harder-edged, more cutting fuzz that holds its low-end shape instead of collapsing into flub, so your root notes stay felt and heard even when the gain is cranked. It’s the kind of tone that works for driving a band forward in a mix without needing to fight for space — snarl on top, weight underneath.
The FFM6 lives in Dunlop’s compact Fuzz Face Mini housing, so it won’t eat up real estate on a crowded board. It runs on an AC power jack and includes an on/off status LED for quick visual confirmation at a dark stage.
