Description
Five-string players know the struggle: a low-B that turns to mud and a set of pickups that can’t decide what they want to be. The AJB-5s is Seymour Duncan’s answer for players chasing bigger output without losing the character that makes a Jazz Bass a Jazz Bass.
The neck pickup pulls double duty — fat and present, but with enough snap and punch to keep that low-B defined instead of flabby. Pair it with the bridge pickup, which leans on a solid low end and a scooped-out midrange for a warmer, clearer voice, and you’ve got a calibrated set designed to work together rather than fight each other.
Power comes from a fully discrete, ultra-quiet 9-volt preamp that keeps output impedance low and dynamic range wide open — the kind of headroom you want whether you’re digging in for classic rock riffs or laying down heavy, driving lines for metal. A logo cover is included for a finished look.
- Calibrated neck and bridge set for active operation
- Fits 4- or 5-string basses (not a direct retrofit for Fender Jazz V, but suits many popular 5-strings)
- Bridge pickup accommodates string spacing up to 3.10″ (78.7mm)
- Neck pickup accommodates string spacing up to 3.00″ (76.2mm)
- Pairs well with STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuits for added tonal shaping
If you’re building a modern five-string voice with real punch and clarity on tap, the AJB-5s gives you a solid foundation to work from.
