Description

Six-string basses ask a lot of a bridge pickup — dead-even output from that low B up through the high C, no weak spots, no honk. The ASB-6B is Seymour Duncan’s answer: an active soapbar sized for Phase I routs (a straight swap for a Bartolini P2) that pairs the snap of active electronics with tone that still feels rooted and vintage-warm rather than sterile.

Inside, a split-blade coil design keeps string-to-string balance tight — something soapbar pickups notoriously struggle with once you get past four strings. The onboard active preamp pushes more volume and headroom than a passive pickup can give you, so slap attack stays crisp and fingerstyle notes bloom instead of getting swallowed. Bass, mids, and treble come through in proportion — nothing scooped, nothing exaggerated — which is exactly what you want on a wide instrument where every string needs to sit right in the mix.

Plenty of players pair this bridge pickup with Seymour Duncan’s STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuit preamps for finer EQ control on stage. Expect roughly 1,000 hours of continuous playing time per battery, and mounting/wiring hardware ships with the pickup.
