Description

Some players assume the classic Jazz Bass snarl belongs to 4-string basses only. Seymour Duncan disagreed. The SJ5B-67/70 takes the attitude of a great ’62 Jazz Bass — that warm low end, the sneaky midrange bite, and the vocal-like J-tone — and reworks the coil geometry and winding to make it translate properly across a wider string spread. The result is a bridge pickup that keeps its character intact even when your B string is doing the heavy lifting, instead of turning muddy or thin like poorly-adapted 5-string pickups often do.

  • Vintage-output passive single coil, designed for the bridge position
  • Sized for the wider cover used on modern 5-string Jazz V basses
  • Hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets for that traditional J pull and dynamic response
  • Forbon flatwork construction
  • Vacuum wax potted to kill microphonic squeal on stage
  • Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA
  • Ships with a black cover

Own an older 5-string Jazz Bass? Check your cover size first — earlier instruments need the 70-74 model instead, as covers differ between generations. For a fully matched voicing front to back, pair this bridge pickup with its neck counterpart, the 6770.

If your low B has always felt like it’s fighting the rest of your tone, this is the fix — same Jazz Bass DNA, just built to handle five strings the right way.
