Jeff Lace, VP and the man behind this design, built the Aluma-P as a true system — rearrange the components and it adapts across string counts instead of being locked to one bass configuration. That’s real flexibility if you’re outfitting more than one instrument or swapping basses on a gig.
There’s also a design philosophy worth knowing about: the Aluma-P and the broader Alumitone lineup use about 95% less copper wire than conventional pickups, leaning on a recyclable aluminum core instead. Less copper mining, less battery waste from onboard preamps, and less shipping weight overall — plus a lighter pickup means a lighter bass in your hands at the end of a long set.
