Description
If you want that unmistakable Ampeg voice without hauling a full tube head to every gig, the SVT-3 PRO splits the difference perfectly. Three 12AX7 preamp tubes (plus a 12AU7 and 12AX7 in the driver stage) shape the front end with real harmonic character, while a solid-state MOSFET power section pushes 450 watts into 4 ohms — 275 watts at 8 ohms — so you’ve got the headroom to keep up with a drummer who hits hard.
Tone shaping is deep: a 3-band EQ with a 5-position mid selector lets you carve out room in a mix, and the 9-band graphic EQ dials in fine detail once you’ve got the broad strokes right. Ultra low and high boost switches are there when you need extra push or sparkle without reaching for a pedal.
This is a workhorse built for the gigging bassist. The Mute function lets you swap basses mid-set without a jarring pop through the PA, and the Tuner Out stays live even with Mute engaged. Neutrik Speak-On connectors lock in place for a reliable connection night after night, and the 1/8″ extruded aluminum front panel is tough enough to survive van rides and stage moves while looking sharp doing it.
Under the hood, DC-supplied filaments keep tube noise out of your signal, and a variable-speed fan only spins up when the amp actually needs cooling — quieter on a soft gig, working harder when you’re driving it.
