Description
Built alongside Billy Sheehan himself, this drive pedal solves the classic bass overdrive problem: how do you get real grit without losing the bottom end that makes a bass a bass? EBS’s answer is a parallel clean/dirty blend, letting you dial in as much snarl as you want on top of a solid, undistorted foundation. The Tone control scoops or fills the drive frequencies so your grind sits right in the mix instead of fighting your amp.
A built-in compressor (High, Mid, or Off, with internal trim pots for ratio and threshold) keeps note-to-note definition audible even when the Drive knob is cranked hard – handy for tapping, slapping, or any playing style where dynamics need to survive the distortion.
What really sets this pedal apart is the pair of effects loops. The Clean Loop and Drive Loop let you patch outboard gear into either signal path independently – run an EQ into the Drive Loop to reshape your grit, or bypass the internal compressor and drop your own favorite compressor into the Clean Loop. It’s less a single-trick overdrive and more a tone-shaping platform, similar in spirit to blending channels on a Fafner II preamp. Note: loop use requires a separate insert cable (stereo 1/4″ splitting to two mono 1/4″ plugs), sold separately.
