The alder (or swamp ash) body delivers that traditional, full-bodied resonance JB players expect, and it’s fed straight into the neck through the Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge — a piece of hardware that transfers string energy directly into the body’s end-grain instead of losing it in the hardware. The result is a bass that feels alive under your fingers, not just loud.
Up top, the slim hard-rock maple neck wears a Clear Tint Satin finish that feels broken-in from day one. A 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets keep your left hand moving fast without fighting the neck, whether you’re locked into a groove or running up the fingerboard for a fill.
Alnico single-coil pickups give you that holy-grail JB growl, and every one of these basses is built in the original G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California — the same shop Leo Fender set up in 1980.
