Description
Some players say don’t mess with a good thing, but the G&L JB proves that refinement beats reinvention every time. This is still that familiar Alnico single-coil voice you know from decades of JB-style basses on record, just built with the extra care and modern touches G&L has been quietly perfecting since Leo Fender founded the company in 1980.
Under your hand, the slim hard-rock maple neck wears a vintage gloss finish that breaks in fast, paired with a 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets for a smooth, fast-playing feel whether you’re locked into a groove or stretching out for a fill. The alder or swamp ash body (depending on finish) keeps the tone rich and traditional, and Leo Fender’s own Saddle-Lock bridge design drives string vibration straight into the body’s end-grain, so you get more resonance and sustain out of every note.
Each finish option comes paired with a pickguard chosen to complement the color, and the polished Clear Tint Satin neck finish ties the whole look together. Choose from:
- 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder, 3-ply tortoise pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Jet Black over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Himalayan Blue over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard
- Purpleburst over Swamp Ash, 3-ply black pickguard, Maple fingerboard
Every Fullerton Deluxe JB is built in G&L’s original Fullerton, California facility on Fender Avenue, the birthplace of the bolt-on bass, carrying forward the standards Leo Fender set decades ago.
