Description
The Godin A4 Ultra SA isn’t just another semi-acoustic – it’s a workhorse for players who need more than one voice on a session or a set. Under the hood you get individual saddle transducers wired to a Custom Godin preamp, delivering surprisingly convincing acoustic bass tone straight out of the 1/4″ jack. Flip over to the Low Profile Lace Sensor pickup, controlled by side-mounted volume and tone knobs, and you’re in electric territory with punch and clarity. Need to run synth or MIDI gear? The Custom RMC 13-pin output plugs right into Roland GR synths and most other 13-pin rigs, opening up a whole different set of sonic options for writing or live performance.
Structurally, the A4 Ultra shares the two-chambered body construction found across Godin’s A-Series – a design built specifically to fight feedback and keep the top from misbehaving under loud stage volume. The solid spruce top over Canadian Laurentian basswood gives it that resonant, woody character while staying stage-tough. A maple neck with a 34″ scale and 1.5″ nut width keeps the feel familiar and comfortable for players coming from standard electric basses, and the 12″ radius rosewood board with 20 frets is smooth for both fingerstyle work and faster runs.
