Description
The BA12-3 is Genzler Amplification’s first move in bass cabs, and it’s not a rehash of the usual 12+tweeter formula. Instead of pairing your low end with a single horn that fights to keep up, this cab crosses over to a 4×3″ neodymium line array at 800 Hz – small drivers, but four of them working together, so they don’t have to strain to sound clean.
What that means for you on stage: the 12″ ported woofer stays in its lane, pushing full, deep low frequencies with real authority under a low B fundamental, without being asked to also cover midrange detail. Keeping the crossover point selective sidesteps the pattern-narrowing “beaming” that happens when big woofers try to reproduce full-range signal on their own. Meanwhile the line array handles mids and highs with wider horizontal spread and tighter vertical control, so your tone stays consistent whether you’re centered on the cab or off to the side of the stage.
The result is a more open, natural top end than a conventional tweeter can give you, plus a single-point-source feel since the array sits directly in front of the woofer – like concentric drivers stacked in one plane. For gigging bassists who want even coverage across the room without hauling a huge rig, this compact 1×12 does a lot of work in a small footprint.
