Description
Don’t let the compact frame fool you — the Magellan MG-112T is built to move air. Jeff Genzler’s heritage designs have always chased that balance between portability and full-range weight, and this 1×12 is a perfect example. A single 12″ Faital neodymium woofer with a dual-wound voice coil handles the heavy lifting, staying tight and controlled even when you’re digging into the low B fundamentals of a 5-string. Pair that with the compact bullet tweeter — ferro-fluid cooled for smoother highs and better power handling — and you get a cab that covers the whole spectrum without sounding thin or boxy.
The cabinet itself is 12mm and 15mm Baltic Birch plywood, kept light for load-in and load-out, but the front triangular ports aren’t just for looks — they reinforce the corners while optimizing airflow, so the low end stays solid at volume. Black textured vinyl, silver/black woven grille cloth, and metallic piping give it a look that stands apart from the usual black-box amp stack.
Practical touches matter on a gig night: sealed 1/4″ jacks and a Speakon NL-2 connector cut down on rear-cabinet air loss and noise, while the custom 12dB/octave crossover with a 100W L-Pad lets you dial in tweeter output to taste.
