This used head crams the flip-top voicing bassists have relied on for decades into a box weighing just 11 lbs, so you can throw it in a gig bag and still walk away with 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms on tap. Pair it with the PF Series flip-top cabs and you’ve got the vintage Portaflex look and feel in a rig that actually fits in the trunk.
The dual JFET preamp keeps that warm Ampeg character up front, while the Class-D power section stays light and efficient for load-in. Onboard you get Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs, a 5-way Midway frequency control for dialing in exactly where your mids sit, plus Ultra Lo and Ultra Hi switches for scooping or boosting on the fly. A built-in variable compressor smooths out your attack without needing a separate pedal, and the -15 dB input pad plus selectable gain give you room to run active or passive basses without stepping on your signal.
Stage and studio flexibility is baked in too — balanced XLR line out with pre/post EQ, -40dB pad, and ground lift for direct-to-board runs; an effects loop with dedicated FX mix control; tuner out; headphone out with 1/8″ aux in for silent practice; and a footswitch jack for mute and peak functions. Speaker options cover both Speakon and 1/4″.
