Description
The MM4CBC is Bartolini’s Classic Bass (CB) series bridge pickup for Music Man-style 4-strings, and it’s built for players who want the bridge position to actually contribute something instead of just barking through the mix. This is a passive dual-coil humbucker, so you get quiet operation with none of the noise floor headaches, but the tone itself is where it earns its keep.
Bartolini designed the CB series with an extended frequency range that pulls more top-end detail and openness out of the pickup than a typical vintage-style bridge unit. You get clarity and definition up high, but the lows and low-mids stay full and grounded underneath it – so slap tones cut through, fingerstyle attack stays articulate, and the pickup doesn’t thin out when you dig in. Each unit is cast in epoxy, which locks everything down mechanically and kills unwanted microphonics and feedback, a real plus at stage volume.
CNC-machined blade polepieces run the width of the pickup instead of relying on fixed magnet spacing, which means it tracks evenly across string spacing from 50mm to 59mm on medium-radius fingerboards. That flexibility matters if you’re rewiring or upgrading a Music Man-style bass and want consistent output and balance across all four strings, not just wherever the factory magnets happened to line up.
