Five strings shouldn’t mean fighting your muscle memory. The L-1000 Series 750 keeps the bridge spacing at 19mm — the SAE “three-quarter-inch” standard (0.750″ = 19.03mm) — matching the feel bassists already know from Leo Fender’s four-string designs, just extended across a fifth string.
Nicknamed the “Widebody Wunkay,” this CLF Research model uses G&L’s “Wide 5” Saddle Lock bridge plate, loaded with the same saddles found on G&L four-strings, giving the added string room without changing the string-to-string feel you’re used to. The body itself is a new, curvier take on classic Fender Avenue shapes, built to house a newly reworked MFD humbucker — G&L’s largest footprint yet on this pickup — voiced to keep harmonic detail intact while digging into that low B without turning to mud.
Up top, the early CLF/G&L hook headstock leads into a slim, rounded neck profile, reinforced with a true dual-action truss rod plus twin graphite rods for stability under pressure — stage sweat, temperature swings, aggressive gigging, all accounted for. Vintage-correct touches round it out: chunky CLF machined knobs, the sweeping control plate, and a three-position mini-toggle for coil-splitting duties, including the switchable L-1000 “OMG” mode for tonal range beyond a standard humbucker.

Built at the original G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California — the same building Leo Fender established in 1980, and still the Birthplace of Bolt-on.
