Description
If you love the woody, vocal quality of a Jazz Bass but want more output and none of the 60-cycle hum that comes with true single coils, the DiMarzio Model J set (DP123BK) is built for exactly that. It keeps the traditional roundness and warmth Jazz players chase, but with extra power under the hood that pushes the resonant character of your bass forward in the mix without sacrificing nuance.
These pickups are especially good on fretless basses — the sensitivity here lets glissandos and violin-style vibrato come through with real detail. Roll off the tone knob a touch and you’ll find that classic, woody voice waiting for you. Want more tonal range? Drop a DiMarzio Model P in the bridge alongside a Model J and you get the best of both worlds: the fat, warm low end of the P paired with the tight punch of the J.
This is the DP123 set, made to fit original Fender Jazz Bass routing, where the neck and bridge cavities are different sizes — the neck pickup here is shorter than the bridge pickup. If your bass uses matched-size cavities instead, DiMarzio sells these individually as DP123S (short) and DP123L (long).
