Description
This is the neck pickup Billy Sheehan runs in his signature Yamaha basses, and it exists because he pushed DiMarzio’s existing Model P and Model One designs harder than most players ever will. What came out the other side is the Will Power Neck Model – a pickup that digs deep into the low end without turning to mud, giving you real low-string definition whether you’re locking in a groove or carrying a bassline solo.
Physically it shares the same footprint as the Model One, so swaps are straightforward, but under the hood it’s a different animal – louder, fatter, with pole piece spacing opened up slightly wider to keep your strings properly aligned on long-scale basses. If you’ve ever fought a neck pickup that sounded thin or lost focus on the low B, this is built to fix that.
It’s a humbucker with 4-conductor wiring, so you’ve got flexibility for series/parallel or coil-tap wiring schemes if your bass and electronics are set up for it. Ceramic magnet, ready to go into your P-style routing.
- Wiring: 4-Conductor
- Magnet: Ceramic
- Output: 200 mV
- DC Resistance: 12.21 Kohm
Pair it with the Will Power Middle for the full Sheehan-approved setup, or drop it in solo for a neck pickup that finally pulls its weight.
