Some pedals color your tone. The Battalion runs your whole rig. EHX built this as a one-stop preamp and DI for bassists who want total control over their low end without hauling a separate compressor, gate, and drive pedal to every gig.
- Four-band EQ voiced for bass: Bass (below 200Hz), Lo Mid (280Hz), Mid (750Hz), and Treble (above 2kHz), so you’re shaping the actual frequencies your instrument lives in.
- A MOSFET distortion section with Level, Blend, Drive, and Tone knobs, plus its own footswitch, covers everything from a gritty edge to full-on filth.
- Three signal flow options change the character of that grit: Pre EQ hits distortion first, Post EQ lets you EQ the dirt itself, and Dry EQ keeps your clean signal shaped while only the blended dirty signal stays untouched by the EQ.
- Built-in compressor (with its own pushbutton, amount control, and LED) tightens up your attack and adds sustain without squashing your feel.
- Noise gate with adjustable threshold cleans up hiss and hum between notes while leaving your attack intact.
On the I/O side, the Battalion is built to slot into any setup — the 1/4″ input has a switchable 10dB pad for hot pickups, and routing is flexible enough for studio or stage use. It’s an analog circuit with buffered bypass, mono audio, runs on the included 9.6VDC-200mA power adapter, draws 100mA, and measures 5.75 x 4.75 x 2.5 inches on your board.
