Description
Sometimes four strings just isn’t enough headroom. The American Professional Jazz Bass V hands you a low B alongside the growl and sting that made the Jazz Bass a studio and stage staple since 1960 — funk, fusion, gospel, modern rock, you name it. This one’s finished in Olympic White over an alder body, with a rosewood board on a slim “Modern C” maple neck that lets your thumb and fingers move fast without feeling cramped, even reaching for that extra string.
The V-Mod single-coil Jazz Bass pickups, developed by pickup guru Michael Bump, split the difference between vintage warmth and enough output to cut through a busy mix. Pull back the neck pickup and dig into the bridge for that classic Jazz snarl, or blend both for the full, rounded thump this bass is known for.
Under the hood, Posiflex graphite rods keep the neck stable through temperature swings and long tours, narrow-tall frets give you clean intonation for bends and chordal work up high, and the fluted-shaft tuning machines lock in tuning stability with better break angle over the bone nut. The vintage-style HiMass bridge with single-groove saddles adds sustain and a rock-solid string anchor, whether you go strings-through-body or top-load.
