Glide up the pau ferro board with no frets in the way and you get that unmistakable singing, vocal-like growl he made famous across jazz, R&B, rock and beyond — the sound that turned a stock bass guitar into a genre-defining instrument.
Under the hood, it’s built the way Jaco liked things: honest and functional. A select alder body pairs with a C-shaped maple neck, its slab-cut pau ferro fingerboard finished in urethane for smooth, consistent glide. Twenty inlaid white fretlines keep you oriented, with side dots centered right on those lines so you’re never guessing in a dark club or a loud stage.
Two vintage-style Jazz Bass single-coil pickups deliver that classic scooped-yet-punchy tone, wired simple — Volume 1 for the neck pickup, Volume 2 for the bridge, and a master tone knob, all topped with knurled chrome Precision Bass knobs for a bit of that mix-and-match personality Jaco himself favored. An American Vintage Jazz Bass bridge and vintage-style reverse tuning machines keep things period-correct, finished off with a 4-ply brown shell pickguard (unmounted, riding along in the case) and a special Jaco tribute neck plate.
