Description
The JB formula doesn’t need reinventing, but G&L’s Fullerton Deluxe series proves it can still be refined. This 2020 build pairs alder or swamp ash bodies with pickguard combos pulled straight from the G&L Option Order menu — no guesswork on what colors work together, just proven pairings that let the finish breathe.
Available configurations:
- 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder, 3-ply tortoise pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Jet Black over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Himalayan Blue over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard
- Purpleburst over Swamp Ash, 3-ply black pickguard, Maple fingerboard
Under the hood, this is a working bassist’s instrument through and through. The Alnico single-coils deliver that classic JB growl and punch — the tone that basically defined the sound before anyone knew it needed defining. The hard-rock maple neck is slim and fast, finished in vintage gloss with a Clear Tint Satin feel that stays comfortable set after set. A 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius meets Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets for effortless runs whether you’re locked into a groove or reaching for a fill.
Leo Fender’s own Saddle-Lock bridge design routes string vibration directly into the body’s end-grain, giving the whole instrument a resonance and sustain that’s easy to feel through your hands, even before it hits the amp.
Built in the historic G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California — the Birthplace of Bolt-on — where G&L USA instruments have been made since Leo Fender founded the company in 1980.
