Description
Some basses chase trends. The Fullerton Deluxe JB just gets better at being a JB. G&L took the Option Order menu’s favorite color-and-guard pairings and locked them in as a dedicated model, so you get the classic single-coil growl this bass is famous for, dressed in a finish that actually matches its pickguard on purpose.
Under your hand, the slim hard-rock maple neck wears a vintage gloss finish that breaks in fast and feels like it’s already been played for years. A 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets keep fast lines and fat vibrato equally comfortable, whether you’re walking a jazz line or laying down eighth notes at volume.
The real secret weapon is the Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge, which anchors string energy directly into the body’s end-grain instead of letting it get lost in hardware. The result is a bass that resonates from the first note – more sustain, more low-end authority, more of that “holy grail” alnico tone that made the original JB a studio and stage staple.
Available configurations:
- 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder, 3-ply tortoise pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Jet Black over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood or Maple fingerboard
- Himalayan Blue over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard
- Purpleburst over Swamp Ash, 3-ply black pickguard, Maple fingerboard
Built at the original G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California – the Birthplace of Bolt-on – this is a bass made by the same crew, in the same building, with the same standards Leo Fender set in 1980.
