The A4 Ultra SA is Godin’s answer to bassists who want acoustic warmth and electric punch in the same instrument, without compromising either. Fretless and finished in Natural Semi Gloss, it’s built around the two-chamber Silver Leaf Maple body that runs through the whole A-Series line, topped with solid Spruce. That chambered construction isn’t just for looks – it fights feedback and keeps the top from misbehaving when you’re standing in front of a loud stage rig.
Where this one really opens up is the electronics. A Low Profile Lace Sensor pickup handles the electric side, with its own volume and tone controls mounted right on the side of the body for quick access. Meanwhile, custom Godin saddle transducers in the bridge feed a custom-voiced preamp, giving you genuinely convincing acoustic bass tone through the 1/4″ output. Add in 13-pin capability and you’ve got a bass that can talk to computers and synths as easily as an amp.
The fretless Ebony fingerboard rides a Rock Maple neck with a 16″ radius and 34″ scale, so you get long sustain and smooth glide under the fingers, whether you’re working slow, vocal-style lines or sliding through upper positions.
