The JBE (Joe Barden) R4000 set was built specifically to break that trade-off. These are dead quiet — quiet enough that you’ll double-check your amp is even on — so the RIC that’s been sitting in the case can finally earn its spot on the gig.
Killing hum is just the starting point. The R4000s keep the RIC’s signature voice intact while opening up more tonal range underneath it, so the bass works across more styles than the classic jangle-rock role it’s known for. Response is punchy and articulate — notes cut through a dense mix instead of getting swallowed by it, giving your low end real presence without fighting the rest of the band for space.
Installation respects the instrument: these pickups reuse your existing RIC hardware and drop into your current pickup covers, so there’s no routing or modification to your bass. Wiring is a straightforward 2-wire setup, and JBE includes diagrams plus mounting hardware to make the swap painless.
